InshAllah Eid Al-Adha will be observed on Friday, November 27, 2009.
Eid Mubarak
Takbeerat will start at 7:45am and Eid Prayer will be at 9:00am sharp.
Please come early to avoid traffic delays.
For Muslims who are not performing Hajj, it is highly recommended to fast on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah. The prophet (SalaAllahu3alaihiWassalam) was asked about fasting on the day (of Arafah), and he replied, "It wipes off the sins of the last year and this year" (Recorded by Imam Muslim)
Eid Mubarak to all of you

A Muslim should pay on his behalf and on the behalf of his dependents that he supports such as his wife and children, etc.
10 dollars per person.
Zakat-al-Fitr can be given anytime during Ramadan, however, it must be given before the Eid prayer.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
Ramadan 1430-AH Announcement
Alhumdulillah, we are once again blessed by Allah Subhanahu Watala to witness the month of Ramadan. We should prepare ourselves to receive this month with sincerity in our fasting and our nightly prayers, so that we can receive the utmost reward of forgiveness and Paradise from Allah Subhanahu Watala (ameen).
"O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint." Qur’an 02:183
Insha'Allah 1st day of Ramadan will be Saturday - August 22, 2009.
Abu Ayyoub reported that the Messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said "Whoever fasts the month of Ramadhan and then follows it by fasting six days during the month of Shawwal will be rewarded as if he had fasted the entire year. [Muslim, at-Tirmithi, Ibn Majah, Abu Dawood and Ahmad by way of Jabir]. These days can be anytime during the month of Shawwal except the first day because it is unlawful to fast the day of Eid. These days do not have to be at beginning of the month nor do they have to be consecutive. Hence, Muslims should seize this opportunity and fast these six days to get Allah's reward.
Why the fasting of six days of Shawal after Ramadhan equates that of the whole year? Some `Ulamaa' say that the good deed is rewarded ten times. Thus fasting six days is like fasting 60 days, added to 30 days of Ramadhan times 10 (i.e. 300) it makes it a year. Read More

Take Advantage of the First 10 Days of Dhul-Hijjah
First 10 days of Dhul-Hijjahare the best and most virtuous days of the year –for both the pilgrim and those who stay behind. They are days of striving to gain closeness and proximity to Allaah and seeking His Mercy and Forgiveness. They are days of Salaah, and Zakaah, Fasting, du’aa and the remembrance of Allaah, sincere repentance, and all other virtuous deeds.
And Allaah swore by these days in His saying:
وَالْفَجْرِ * وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ
“By the Dawn, and by the Ten Nights.”
And the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
أَفضَلُ أَيَّامِ الدُّنيَا أَيَّامُ العَشْرِ
“The best days in the dunyaa are the ten days.”
And the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
” There are no days during which good righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than the ten days (the first ten days of Dhil-Hijjah).”So the Companions asked: “Not even Jihaad in the Path of Allaah?”He said: “Not even Jihaad in the Path of Allaah, except for a man who goes out with his person and his wealth, and comes back with nothing.”
During these days it is recommended to increase in makingtakbeer, tahleel, andtamheed, and to increase in all types of righteous deeds, like prayer, fasting, giving in charity and so on.
Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah
And from these righteous actions isfasting the Day of ‘Arafah. The Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
“It expiates (the sins) of the previous year, and the following year.”
And this fast is for those who remained behind, as fasting the Day of ‘Arafah by those who are at ‘Arafah is not from the guidance of the Prophet(Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)and his Companions. ‘Abdullaah bin ‘Umar (Radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa) was asked about fasting the Day of ‘Arafah by those at ‘Arafah. He said:“I made Hajj with the Prophet(Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)and he did not fast it, and with Aboo Bakr and he did not fast it, and with ‘Umar and he did not fast it, and ‘Uthmaan and he did not fast it. And I do not fast it, nor do I order it, nor do I prohibit it.”
The Sacrifice
Of these 10 blessed days is the Day of an-Nahr, or ‘Eedul-Adhaa. The Prophet(Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)said:
“Verily the greatest of Days with Allaah- the Blessed and Most High- is the Day of Sacrifice, then the Day of Rest [following it].”
And know that the sacrifice is from those actions that are highly stressed upon for those who have the ability, as the Prophet(Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)said:
“Whoever has the means, and does not sacrifice, should not approach our musallaa.”
And the one who has the ability and intends to sacrifice an animal, then he is not to cut his hair and nails, from the first day of Dhul-Hijjahup until after he sacrifices.
And Allaah has made the days ofAn-Nahr(the day of ‘Eed) andat-Tashreeq(the 3 days that follow it) days of eating and drinking.
The Takbeeraat
From the day of ‘Arafah (9th of Dhil-Hijjah) up until the ‘Asr prayer on the 13th day of Dhil-Hijjah, after the Salaah, we make thetakbeeraat. Ibn Abee Shaybah reported that ‘Alee used to make thetakbeerbeginning after the Fajr prayer on the Day of ‘Arafah, up until after the ‘Asr prayer on the last day ofTashreeq(the 13th day of Dhil-Hijjah). As for the wording of theTakbeer, then there is nothing authentically reported from the Prophet(Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam). Rather, what we find is the ‘Abdullaah bin Mas’ood(Radiyallaahu ‘anhu)used to say:
And Ibn ‘Abbaas(Radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa)used to say:
Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, wa lillaahil-Hamd. Allaahu Akbar wa ajalla, Allaahu Akbar ‘alaa ma hadaanaa.
So it is upon us to exert ourselves in obedience to Allaah during these 10 blessed days, from their beginning till their end; increasing in our salaah, trying to fast the Day of ‘Arafah, making mention of Allaah in abundance, sadaqah, sacrificing an animal on the Day of An-Nahr or the days that follow it, recitation of the Qur’aan, Repenting to Allaah, seeking His mercy and forgiveness, and so forth. For there is no time like these 10 days:
” There are no days during which good righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than the ten days.”

Annur at a Glance - The Begining
Until
1982, Muslim students and residents of Sacramento had to perform their
prayers in a rented apartment. In 1984, the Muslim community purchased
a 1.34-acre property with a small house, which served as a place of
worship. The Masjid Annur Center (MAC) presently has five daily
prayers. During Friday (jummah) prayers over 400 men, women, and
children gather to worship. Various forms of Zakaat are collected and
distributed on a regular basis.
Social
services is the area of births, deaths, and marriages are part of the
community support provided. A Quranic School for children is operated
as well. The MAC serves as a valuable resource center of Dawah work in
the area. The Mosque is the central point around which many community
activities revolve. Due to the growth and an increasing demand for
community oriented services the existing premises are much too small to
cater to the needs of the people. To accommodate the growth of the
community, a wooden deck was built behind the house. This proved to be
ineffective especially during the rainy season. Later, a mobile home
was added to solve that problem.
A
bigger problem that we faced was the availability of enough parking
spaces. The property had space for no more than thirty cars and was
unpaved. This posed a problem especially during Friday prayer as people
had to park a little far from the property. Things became more
complicated as we introduced a Sunday school for the children. We had
to provide enough rooms for approximately 120 students. It was
impossible to use the house to accommodate all those students, so we
were forced to reserve a few classrooms at a local college.
The
overcrowding and the lack of adequate facilities have prompted the
current MAC administration which is comprised of the broad trustees and
the board of directors to seek innovative methods of relocation to
serve the demands of the community. In mutual consultation with the
community the current administration, with the help of Allah, bought a
building with a lot of total size of 284,750sq.ft.
